If cost is a worry, reach out anyway. We can talk through options. You can also use an HSA or FSA card, meeting every other week is an option, and if I'm not right for your budget, I'll help you find someone who is.
Your right to a Good Faith Estimate. Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don't have insurance, or who aren't using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the total expected cost of your care. If your bill is $400 or more above your estimate, you can dispute it. Learn more at cms.gov/nosurprises.
The patient and any other person responsible for payment has a right to refuse to pay, cancel payment, or be reimbursed for payment for any other service, examination, or treatment that is performed as a result of and within 72 hours of responding to the advertisement for the free, discounted fee, or reduced fee service, examination, or treatment.
I'm available Monday to Thursday 7 to 10pm, Saturday 9am to 2pm, and Sunday 3 to 7pm. Daytime sessions are possible too. Just ask.
Do you take insurance?
I'm an out-of-network provider, and I provide superbills. That means you pay me directly, and I give you an itemized receipt with the codes your insurance needs. You upload it to your insurance portal, and if your plan has out-of-network benefits, they reimburse you directly. Many PPO plans pay back a meaningful part of each session once your deductible is met.
What should I ask my insurance about superbills?
Call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
1. "Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits for CPT codes 90791 (the first session) and 90837 (ongoing sessions)?"
2. "What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much of it have I met?"
3. "Once my deductible is met, what percentage do you reimburse?"
Their answers will tell you how much you'll get back. I'm happy to help you make sense of them on our consult.
I've never done therapy. Is that okay?
Completely. I'll explain things as we go, and you share only what you want to share.
Does online therapy really work?
Research generally finds video therapy works about as well as in-person therapy for many concerns, including anxiety and depression. Sessions take place on SimplePractice's secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform, and you join from the link in your appointment reminder.
Where do I need to be?
Anywhere in Florida, somewhere private with a steady connection. Please don't join while driving.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice are charged the full fee. You'll get a Good Faith Estimate before we begin, as required by the No Surprises Act.
Is there anything you don't treat?
I don't prescribe medication, and as a solo online practice I'm not set up for active crisis, psychosis, detox-level substance use, eating disorders needing medical care, court-ordered treatment, or couples and family therapy. If that's where you are, I'll help you find the right place.
