I'm Valentina Alaimo, LCSW. I help curious adults across Florida understand what's going on underneath, all online, from wherever you feel comfortable.

The people I connect with most want to understand what's going on underneath. Some are in the middle of a big change. Some are asking whether this is the life they actually want. Some just know something feels off and want to figure out why.
You don't need to be in crisis to deserve this kind of space. If you're open to a new way of looking at things, and you like asking why, we'll get along well.
I work with adults only, and everything happens over secure video, so you can meet with me from your couch, your car parked in the driveway, or anywhere private in Florida.

What it's like to work with me
Therapy is a little like learning to ride a bike. I'll hold on for a while. Then one day you'll realize you've been riding on your own.
I want a session with me to feel like sunshine. Warm, unhurried, and lighter by the end than when you logged on. For that hour, you have my full, unhurried attention.
Research keeps pointing to the same thing: the relationship between you and your therapist is one of the biggest reasons therapy works. So that's where I put my heart.
My style is insight-oriented and goes deep, with practical tools from CBT, DBT and mindfulness when they help. I'm warm, I'm honest, and we'll probably laugh.

Hi, I'm Valentina Alaimo, LCSW
I've been in therapy myself since I was young. Being on the other side of the room taught me what actually makes it work: feeling seen, heard and understood by someone who is truly on your side.
I trained in hospitals, first in outpatient psychiatry at NewYork-Presbyterian and then for two years at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, sitting with people through transplants, cancer and chronic pain. I watched how much lighter people became when someone finally took them seriously.
Outside of sessions, I'm a foodie with a soft spot for tiramisu. Making it is one of my favorite ways to unwind. I can spend an hour in the wellness aisle reading labels. I'm fascinated by how what we eat, how we sleep and how we move shape how we feel. I'll probably ask you if you're getting enough morning sunlight. The basics matter more than we think.
Fees and the practical part
* Superbills provided for out-of-network insurance reimbursement. Sliding scale fees available.
If cost is a worry, reach out anyway. Ask me about sliding scale fees. You can also use an HSA or FSA card, meeting every other week is an option, and if I'm not right for your budget, I'll help you find someone who is.
I'm available Monday to Thursday 7 to 10pm, Saturday 9am to 2pm, and Sunday 3 to 7pm. Daytime sessions are possible too. Just ask.
Do you take insurance?
I'm an out-of-network provider, and I provide superbills. That means you pay me directly, and I give you an itemized receipt with the codes your insurance needs. You upload it to your insurance portal, and if your plan has out-of-network benefits, they reimburse you directly. Many PPO plans pay back a meaningful part of each session once your deductible is met.
What should I ask my insurance about superbills?
Call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
1. "Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits for CPT codes 90791 (the first session) and 90837 (ongoing sessions)?"
2. "What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much of it have I met?"
3. "Once my deductible is met, what percentage do you reimburse?"
Their answers will tell you how much you'll get back. I'm happy to help you make sense of them on our free call.
I've never done therapy. Is that okay?
Completely. I'll explain things as we go, and you share only what you want to share.
Does online therapy really work?
Research generally finds video therapy works about as well as in-person therapy for many concerns, including anxiety and depression.
Where do I need to be?
Anywhere in Florida, somewhere private with a steady connection. Please don't join while driving.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice are charged the full fee. You'll get a Good Faith Estimate before we begin, as required by the No Surprises Act.
Is there anything you don't treat?
I don't prescribe medication, and as a solo online practice I'm not set up for active crisis, psychosis, detox-level substance use, eating disorders needing medical care, court-ordered treatment, or couples and family therapy. If that's where you are, I'll help you find the right place.
